Florida

Miami to the Keys

The Miami Beach Marina lies in the heart of world-famous South Beach.  Dine at an oceanfront café on Ocean Drive, or stop at the original Joe’s Stone Crab Restaurant.  The nightclubs of South Beach light up the night skyline for miles.  Sail south through Biscayne Bay 25 miles to Elliot Key and another 5 miles to Pumpkin Key.  Hawk Channel separates the Florida Keys and the offshore reefs.  Hit the water for an afternoon of snorkeling or diving at your choice of reefs such as Carysfort, the Elbow and the Grecian Rocks.

Continue south to Key largo and dine at The Fish House for a wide selection of the freshest seafood the Keys have to offer.  On the way to Indian Key Anchorage snorkel the beautiful reefs of Conch, Davis and Pickles. Windley Key is home to the fabulous Holiday Isle Beach Resort, with white sand beaches and a host of water sport activities.  Continue south to Marathon Key and the ever-popular Margaritaville destination of Key West.

Each Key has its own distinct personality, but the gentle breeze and inviting waters remain consistent and make the region an ideal yacht chartering ground.  Enjoy the sail and anchor at-will; Miami and the Keys will not disappoint.

West Coast

The Gulf Coast or “casual coast” of Florida offers relaxing cruising in calm Gulf waters, with secluded anchorages as well as modern ports.  The southwest sailing coast extends from Tampa in the north, 220 miles south to the heart of the Everglades.  The port of Ft. Myers is the yachting center of the Gulf Coast.

Sailing north, the Intracoastal Waterway winds through the popular barrier islands of Gasparilla, Cayo Costa, Captiva and Sanibel.  The islands protect Pine Island Sound, which provides endless island anchorages and captivating scenery.  The island bar on Cabbage Key, like many other spots, was made famous by Jimmy Buffet.

Charlotte Harbor at the northern tip of the Sound is home to the Burnt Store Marina with many facilities.  Sailing north, you will encounter the cosmopolitan docks of Sarasota and Tampa, with fine dining and shopping opportunities.  Choose casual, cosmo, or somewhere in between during your west coast Florida yacht charter.
