Alaska Alaska, the 49th and largest of the United States, is a snow-capped palace, glacier reserve and wildlife frontier. Frederick Sound is one of many exhilarating whalewatching grounds along the way. The majority of Admiralty Island National Monument is an evergreen rainforest with several major bays and inlets penetrating deep inland and providing opportune anchorages. The small bays and streams also provide prime kayaking areas. Seymour Canal is home to one of the largest populations of nesting bald eagles in the world.
